River City Art Association invites Indiana and Illinois artists to enter the 18th Annual RCAA Juried Art Exhibit to be on display Aug. 7 through 31 in First Financial Bank at Sixth Street and Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana.
Competition is open to ages 18 and older. Entry deadline is midnight Monday, July 20.
An opening reception is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, with an awards ceremony at 6:30. Admission is free during the reception and regular banking hours through Aug. 31.
Exhibit judge Clive Jachnik is trained in the Scottish Colorist tradition of painting and has many other international influences. Creating decorative, color-driven landscapes and still life paintings with oils and watercolors, Jachnik is widely collected in Europe and the United States. A veteran of the United Kingdom Royal Navy, Jachnik’s work also draws upon his peace keeping service with the United Nations and NATO in Africa, Asia and Europe. These narrative paintings show communities striving for peace after conflict and are drawn from his extensive travels worldwide. As well as his paintings, Jachnik has produced some 20 solo exhibitions as a photographer, producing large black and white images in the American Secessionist style.
Entry fees are $30 for RCAA and Wabash Valley Art Guild members, $36 for non-members, and $15 for students (with valid student ID) for up to three entries per artist.
