Old Glory-Eugene Thomas
Eugene A. Thomas of Vermillion County, Indiana, is River City Art Association’s November Artist of the Month in the Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets in Terre Haute.
Eugene’s exhibit includes a couple of original oil paintings mixed with a few prints of works he has created in his home at Fairview Park, west of Clinton, Indiana.
“I can’t remember back far enough when I haven’t worked at some kind of art, ” said Thomas, 76. “I am mostly self-taught. I like most kinds of art, but tend toward realist forms.”

A total of nine pieces are in Gene’s exhibit at the library. One of his prints on canvas, titled “Festival Morning,” is a view of downtown Rockville, Indiana, and the courthouse square during the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival in 1990. “Old Glory” and “River Traffic” featured here also are on display.
Eugene also is the featured artist through mid-February in Arts Illiana’s Community Outreach Gallery in the Country Club of Terre Haute, curated by RCAA.
