As Union Health continues to celebrate 125 years of caring, Union Hospital, in conjunction with River City Art Association, invites the public to view its “Celebration of Care” juried art exhibition now through Nov. 21.

The exhibit of 65 works by 30  Wabash Valley artists is on display at Union Hospital East in the lower level atrium.

Awards will be presented today, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. A Best of Show award will be voted on by Union Health employees.

Hospitals and healthcare facilities have found that fine art can help patients, families and visitors in the healing process during their time of care. Physicians, nurses and supporting healthcare professionals also benefit from the calming aspect that art can bring.

For this exhibition, area artists 18 and older were invited to submit their original images with a serene, uplifting or inspirational theme.

The judge for this event is Kathy Gotshall, assistant professor of art therapy at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
