Union Hospital celebrates 125 years of caring with a community art exhibit

Hospitals and healthcare facilities have found that fine art can help patients, families and visitors in the healing process during their time of care. Physicians, nurses and supporting healthcare professionals also benefit from the calming aspect that art can bring.

As Union Health continues to celebrate 125 years of caring, Union Hospital, in conjunction with River City Art Association, will host a juried art exhibition titled “Celebration of Care” that will include fine art from Wabash Valley artists.

Area artists 18 and older were invited to submit their original images with a serene, uplifting or inspirational theme.

The judge for this event is Kathy Gotshall, assistant professor of art therapy at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

The exhibit will be held at Union Hospital East in the lower level atrium and will be open to the public from Nov. 12 to 21.

Awards will be presented Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. A Best of Show award will be voted on by Union Health employees.
