River City Art Association and the Vigo County Public Library are featuring photography by Jan Skipo of Terre Haute throughout September in the library at Seventh and Poplar streets.

Jan lived 20 years in Indianapolis, working in marketing for Kondas Photographers and for Wyant Photography, assisting at weddings. She also belonged to Photo Venture in Indianapolis, a weekly photo club that focuses on learning and a hands-on approach. Through those ventures, she acquired “lots of photo books” and a great deal of admiration for the art.
Jan now works as a nurse in Terre Haute, is an active RCAA member and is a strong supporter of the arts community.

In 2014, Jan was one of the top winners in the “Aging in the Wabash Valley” photography competition, sponsored by Indiana State University and Arts Illiana Inc. That photo is in ISU’s permanent exhibit in the College of Nursing, Health and Human Services Building (Arena).

Three of Jan’s photographs are in the fall exhibition by RCAA members on display now through Dec. 18 in Moench Hall at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
In October, Jan’s photos will be featured in the RCAA Artist of the Month Gallery in Harrison College.
RCAA meets at 6 p.m. each second Tuesday of the month in the library. For more information visit rivercityart.org or contact RCAA president Mike Bender at 812-251-7724.
