
An oil portrait titled “Alicia” by Steve Harrold of Terre Haute was awarded Best of Show in River City Art Association’s 18th Annual Juried Art Exhibit in First Financial Bank Plaza, downtown Terre Haute.

Exhibit judge Clive Jachnik also chose 31 other entries for honors at the Aug. 7 opening reception and awards ceremony. Jachnik is trained in the Scottish Colorist tradition of painting, and a photographer known for producing large black and white images in the American Secessionist style.
RCAA’s exhibit of 111 works by 39 Wabash Valley artists is on display through Aug. 28 in the lobby during regular banking hours.
First-place winners are Mary Mayhew, oil-based painting; Jerry Schooley, water-based painting; RCAA founding member Ruthann Brady, mixed media entry; Harrold, drawing category; Arian Sharon, digital art category; Mike Lunsford, photography entry; Todd Stokes, 3D art; and Michael Stevenson, fiber art.








Second Place winners are Harrold, another oil-based painting; Leslie Bosworth, water-based painting; Todd Stokes, photography; Stevenson, fiber art; Elizabeth Lorenzen, drawing; Jan McVay, mixed media; Grace Trask, 3D art; and David Egan, digital art.








Third Place winners are Egan, water-based painting; Bryan Bromstrup, oil painting; Shelley Crouch, mixed media; Jennifer Minnis, photography; Stevenson, fiber art; Lorenzen, drawing; Debra Butler, 3D art; and Johanna Ochs, digital art.




Honorable Mention winners are Michelle Lee, water-based painting; Lisa Kocela, oil painting; Crouch, drawing; Sheila Ter Meer, digital art; McVay, mixed media; Ochs, fiber art; and Rick Decorie, photography.




The Artists Choice Award, sponsored by MuseArt Terre Haute, was
determined from votes by artists attending the opening reception. A mixed media piece titled “Maya Angelou” by Mellow The Artist received that honor.

Other participating artists include Edith Acton, Howard Baugues, Rachel Davis, Maria Deis, Sandy Fisher, David Gill, Madison King, Ebbie McInerney, Alexandra McNichols-Torroledo, Madeline Plant, Donna Pomfret, Nick Rush, Hogan Sloop, Judith Lynn Smith, Kristin Toney and Tom Vice.

Award-winning entries will be featured in September in the lobby of First Financial Bank’s Springhill location. Also, the People’s Choice Award, determined by votes by bank patrons through Aug. 28, will be announced and included in the September exhibit.
