Conversation Piece and Wicked by Sheila K. Ter Meer of Brazil, Indiana

As a member of River City Art Association in Terre Haute, Indiana, Sheila K. Ter Meer gets to share a sampling of her traditional and creative photography in the Artist of the Month gallery at the Vigo County Public Library.

“Conversation Piece” is one of six to be featured in the Brazil, Indiana artist’s June exhibit.

Sheila digitally manipulated the dial on a black rotary telephone until it shapeshifted into a bird of prey.

Earlier this year, “Conversation Piece” was among artwork selected for “The Unexpected” Exhibition in Haute Gallery at Java Haute, also in Terre Haute.

Other artwork in the June AOTM exhibit: Sheila’s photography-based abstract titled “Clowning Around,” a 2nd Place entry in RCAA’s 17th Annual Juried Art Exhibit in August 2025 at First Financial Bank in downtown Terre Haute; and a traditional/creative photography triptych on aluminum, “Approaching Fear Head-On,” a 3rd Place entry in an earlier RCAA juried exhibit.

Also featured in Sheila’s June exhibit: “City in Pane,” a traditional photography on Giclee canvas, a painful reflection of a cityscape in Terre Haute, awarded two 1st Place honors; another traditional photography Blue Ribbon winner, “This Toad-ally Rocks!”; and another photography-based abstract on aluminum, “Wicked,” as in witch.
