Marcia Norman is River City Art Association’s May Artist of the Month at the Vigo County Public Library in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The Terre Haute artist has always had a love of art as an expression of self.
Early on, Marcia did some oil painting but then drifted away from it as she pursued a degree in business from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College near West Terre Haute in Vigo County.
While in Florida, she came across artists using broken or shattered glass as a medium. She became increasingly fascinated with this style of art and was able to take a workshop to learn more about it.
After returning to Indiana, she continued and actually perfected her own style through trial and error.
Her membership in RCAA, Wabash Valley Art Guild and Sullivan Area Art Guild has allowed her work to be seen at the library, as well as Clabber Girl Museum, SAAG’s Gallery, First Financial Bank, Community Theatre of Terre Haute, the Vigo County Fair, and at WVAG’s Art in the Park events.
Marcia’s mixed media piece titled “Beach Heart” was featured in RCAA’s February show in Community Theatre, and she has received numerous awards and ribbons, including a Second Place for her work titled “Summer Beauty” at RCAA’s 10th annual juried exhibition in August 2018 at First Financial Bank. In 2017 Marcia’s work was awarded First and Second place honors in Union Hospital’s 125th Anniversary “Celebration of Care” juried exhibition.
