River City Art Association members Sheila K. Ter Meer of Brazil, Indiana, Marty Jones of Terre Haute, and Thomas Wright of Clinton (formerly Terre Haute) received top honors in the 2018-19 TREES Inc. “Shades of Winter” Photography Contest.
Judges selected several other winners from the nearly 60 photographs entered in the competition.
An awards reception is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Vigo County Public Library in Terre Haute.
In the Adult Professional Division, judges awarded First Place to Sheila’s color glossy “Sycamore Frost” and an Honorable Mention for another color glossy, “Sycamore Freeze.” Thomas received a Second Place for “Winter Rush,” a color landscape of the upper falls at Cataract Falls State Park in Owen County, Indiana. “Winter Solitude,” another color landscape, captured by Thomas at the park, received Honorable Mention.
Marty received Third Place for “Other side of the fence,” a black and white winter landscape. He also is the recipient of the inaugural “Joy Sacopulos Award” honoring the legacy of the late TREES Inc. founding member and creator of TREES Inc. Photography Contest.
The exhibit can be viewed through Feb. 28 in the lower level of the Vigo County Public Library.
