RCAA’s Valerie Funk receives honors at international competition

Judges Choice: Industrial Abstraction by Valerie Funk

Congrats to River City Art Association’s Valerie Funk of Terre Haute. Valerie recently returned from Kansas City where she received four awards for her quilt artistry at the SUGAR International Quilt Show.

“SUGAR stands for Statler User Group And Representatives,” says Valerie, RCAA’s most prolific fabric and threads artist. “Gammill Statler is the brand of machine I use and the show is geared around what we can do with and how we use our machines.
“People from across the globe traveled to Kansas City for the quilt show and training. It was amazing.”
AMAZING is the artwork Valerie is known for in the Midwest and now internationally!

Valerie’s awards include:

1st place Art Quilt category for “Reflections”
Judges Choice for her Modern Art category entry titled “Industrial Abstraction”
3rd place in the pieced category for her quilt  titled “Modern Malka”
3rd place in the I DID IT MY WAY challenge quilt pieced by Sharon Lee of Terre Haute and quilted by Valerie for the quilt titled SUGAR CANDY!
