RCAA LogoRiver City Art Association Inc. invites all Wabash Valley artists to enter its 6th Annual Juried Exhibition set for Oct. 18 in the Masonic Temple at 224 N. Eighth St. in Terre Haute.

Social Lodge 86, Humboldt Lodge 42, Terre Haute Lodge 19 and Terre Haute York Rite are hosting the exhibition in conjunction with the temple’s annual open house, including tours by 50-year Freemason Jerry Burns.

The juried competition is open to artists 18 and older. Art must be entirely original, completed within the last three years and not previously exhibited at a juried RCAA show.

First-, second- and third-place and honorable mention prizes will be awarded in four categories: Ink/Pencil/Pastel; Watercolor/Oil/Acrylic; Mixed Media/3D; Photography/Digital Art.

Juror Ray Chen, executive director of Halcyon Contemporary Art Gallery, will select winners in each category as well as the Best of Show.

All two-dimensional artwork must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Art with “sawtooth hangers” and “clip frames” will not be accepted. Gallery-wrapped canvas paintings or photographs will be accepted. RCAA reserves the right to reject work that is not suitably framed or is not suitable subject matter for public display.

Entry fees are $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers, for up to three entries per artist. The entry fee must accompany an entry form and is nonrefundable.  The nonmember fee includes a one-year membership in RCAA.

Download the 2014 Juried Exhibition Entry Form and mail to RCAA 6th Annual Show, P.O. Box 3605, Terre Haute, IN 47807 or drop off at The Golden Frame at 509 E. Voorhees St.  Forms must be received by Oct. 8.

Artists are to deliver entries Oct. 15 and 16. The show will be judged on Oct. 17. Artwork must be picked up Oct. 19 or 20.

All supporters of the arts are invited to the exhibition and reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18 with the awards ceremony at 6. There will be live entertainment throughout the evening and refreshments on elegant crystal service provided by the Masonic Temple.

RCAA invites businesses, civic organizations and individuals to become an event sponsor.

Contributors will be listed in programs and advertising associated with the 6th Annual Juried Exhibiton and will be recognized during the awards ceremony.

Donation levels are:

• $100-$199 open donation, helps with funding workshops, printed materials and award recognition prizes.

• $200-$399 first-place award in one of four categories named in the contributor’s honor.

• $400-$599 benefactor, sponsorship of Best of Show or Purchase Award.

• $600 and above: partnership status (business’ logo to be used in all printed materials).

• Individual donation of any amount.
