River City features photography by Jan Skipo this month
River City Art Association and the Vigo County Public Library are spotlighting the photographic works by Jan Skipo now through Sept. 30 in the library at Seventh and Poplar streets. Skipo is from Terre Haute, but spent 20 years in Indianapolis working for Kondas Photographers in marketing and Wyant Photography, assisting at weddings.
She also belonged to Photo Venture in Indianapolis, a weekly photo club that focuses on learning and hands-on approach. Through those ventures, she has acquired “lots of photo books” and a great deal of admiration for the art. She currently lives and works as a nurse in Terre Haute. Skipo is one of the top winners in the “Aging in the Wabash Valley” photography competition sponsored earlier this year by Indiana State University and Arts Illiana.
Her photo is currently on display in the Arts Illiana Outreach Gallery in Corporate Square. In October, Skipo’s photos will be featured in the RCAA Artist of the Month Gallery in Sycamore Manor. RCAA meets at 6 p.m. each second Tuesday of the month in the library. For more information visit rivercityart.org or contact president Todd Stokes at 812-232-0048.
