River City features award-winning Terre Haute artist at library

TERRE HAUTE — River City Art Association and the Vigo County Public Library are displaying recent work by award-winning Terre Haute artist Julia London-Meddles throughout July in the library at Seventh and Poplar streets.

London-Meddles showcased her talent in January, while painting live on local television during the United Cerebral Palsy telethon, and then donated three paintings to the charity.

In April she participated in the Hoosier Salon’s First Brush of Spring “en plein air” (in open air) paint-out in New Harmony.

In May, her piece, “The Cow in Mr. Frisket,” won second place in the professional division at the Effingham Art Guild’s spring show.

The 2013 Year of the River events inspired her work with Greek mythology and the poems composed by Homer, the “Iliad” and the “Odyssey.”

In addition to RCAA, London-Meddles is a member of the Hoosier Salon and other art associations in Indiana and Illinois.
