Art, Wine & All That Jazz

Tickets are on sale now for Art, Wine & All That Jazz, the annual benefit for Marshall’s own Gaslight Art Colony, scheduled for Saturday June 15th at Harlan Hall in downtown Marshall, Illinois.  Doors open at 6:30 pm CST for a social hour featuring live jazz by Second Wave, from Terre Haute, IN. Second Wave is a quintet of musicians based in Terre Haute, IN.  Larry Comer plays the saxophone and Jamal Smith is on drums.  Tom Jackson is the bass guitar player. Also on guitar is Rev. Guy Lipkins. Leader and guitarist is Edward Holloman.  Mr. Holloman is also a professional artist and frequent class instructor at the Colony.

Enjoy a variety of hors d’oeuvres prepared by Azar Catering, wine, sangria and iced tea during social hour.   Maria Buskirk, owner of Maria’s—Your Marshall Flower Shop, is once again contributing her national award-winning floral designs for the centerpiece display and an additional floral design to be given away to one lucky ticket holder.

An auction of fine art, theme gift-baskets and other items begins at 8:00 pm.  Pieces to be auctioned will be on display during the social hour and guests will be able to see the works of local artists Jo Rich, Scott Payne, Kate Meehling, Jane Ann Cline, Tom Dagley and more.  Donations of art or other items are still being accepted for the benefit; artists should contact Jo Rich at 217-808-2115 for details.

The Gaslight Art Colony was formed in October of 2009 by local people who wished to expand the world of fine art in east central Illinois and surrounding communities.  The not-for-profit organization is staffed by volunteers and is dedicated to offering classes to the community, providing a venue for the appreciation of fine art in all its forms, and supporting awareness of the arts in general.  The annual summer benefit and art auction, Art, Wine & All That Jazz, is the main fundraiser and gala event for the Gaslight Art Colony.

Advance tickets for Art, Wine & All That Jazz are on sale now for $20.  Tickets at the door, if they are still available, will sell for $25.  Call 217-808-2115, stop by the Gaslight Art Colony itself, or see any board member:  Bill Allen, Mary Lou Cornelison, Tom Dagley, Jack Davidson, Colleen Gard, Kathy Haskins, Kate Meehling, Scott Payne, Jo Rich, Sara Tarble, Debbie Welsh or Edie Breneman.  Make plans now to enjoy a cool night out on the town and support the arts in our community!
