“Celebration of Care” 125th Anniversary Juried Exhibition
Call For Artists – Deadline Nov. 1
Union Health and River City Art Association invite Wabash Valley artists to enter a juried exhibition in celebration of Union Hospital’s 125th anniversary.
Indiana and Illinois artists age 18 and older are encouraged to submit artwork that is serene, uplifting, inspirational or any theme that exemplifies the hospital’s role in providing compassionate care and continued education in health and wellness.
The “Celebration of Care” exhibition opens Nov. 12 in the lower level of the hospital’s atrium. An artists’ reception and awards ceremony are set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14. Artwork will remain on display through Nov. 21.
First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded in five categories. Drawing includes ink, pencil and pastel; painting includes watercolor, oil and acrylic; photography includes digital art; mixed media includes wood, metal and fabric/threads; and ceramics and shattered/fused/etched glass make up the fifth category.
Juror Kathy Gotshall, assistant professor of art therapy at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, will select winners in each category. Best of Show will be determined by votes from Union Health employees viewing the exhibition.
All two-dimensional artwork must be entirely original and suitably framed/mounted and wired for hanging. Gallery-wrapped canvas paintings or photographs will be accepted. Three-dimensional works will not be accepted as well as 2-D with “sawtooth hangers” and “clip frames.”
Union Hospital and RCAA reserve the right to reject work that is not suitable subject matter for public display.
Entry fees are $10 for the first entry and $5 each for an optional second and third entry. The entry fee must accompany an entry form and is nonrefundable.
Entry forms and the Call for Entries prospectus also are available at The Golden Frame at 509 E. Voorhees St. and at RiverCityArt.org. The entry form can be mailed to RCAA, P.O. Box 3605, Terre Haute, IN 47803; or dropped off at The Golden Frame. Forms must be received by Nov. 1.
Artists are to deliver entries between noon and 4 p.m. Nov. 8 or Nov. 9 to the lower level lobby area of the hospital’s atrium, and bring easels to display their art. Tags matching entry form information must be attached to the back of each entry.
Artwork can be picked up from noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
