Surrealist artist to speak at Aug. 12 RCAA meeting

Contemporary surrealist artist Neil Garrison will be the guest speaker at River City Art Association’s Aug. 12 open membership meeting in the Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets, Terre Haute, Indiana.

The Terre Haute native received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana State University in 1984.

Garrison works with pen and ink, pencil, watercolors and acrylic to create thought-provoking paintings, drawings and screen prints.

For more than 40 years, his artwork also has been referred to as “portmanteau,” a unique style which combines two or more unrelated images in order to achieve interesting and unique results.

More recent, Garrison has incorporated portraits in his art creations.

Visit garrisonsurrealimages.wordpress.com for early examples of Garrison’s work, mostly in the area of surrealism and portmanteau.
