River City Art Association member Valerie Greenwell will present a program at the next meeting set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Monthly meetings and programs are open to the public.

Most people know Valerie for her quilts, but she is also a graphic designer, photographer, artist, and published author. She graduated from Ivy Tech in 2008 with a degree in Photography and Graphic Design and began working with fabric and threads in 2012.

She has become well known for her quilted portraits, landscapes, and vibrant abstracts. Many of her works begin as hand-drawn sketches which she then converts to either patterns for quilts or graphics for print works. She uses programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Affinity Designer to assist in the creation of digital works and pattern making.

Valerie has written and published over twenty-five individual patterns and in 2021 published her first full-length instructional quilt pattern book that was later followed by two more installments to complete a three-book series.

Valerie’s work has been featured in a host of magazines, publications, blogs, and internet articles. In 2023 she was named Gammill Quilting’s latest quilt artist. Although Valerie often travels around the US presenting trunk shows and teaching workshops, she also runs a successful longarm quilting business quilting for others and creating memory quilts and T-shirt quilts.
