River City Art Association received a grant in summer 2022 from the City of Terre Haute Mini-Mural Program created to enhance artistic/cultural life within the Terre Haute city limits.
RCAA’s mini-mural design was approved by the office of Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett, Arts Illiana and board members of Community Theatre of Terre Haute at 1431 S. 25th St.
RCAA received $450 of the $750 grant to purchase materials to begin the mural on Community Theatre’s southside double-door service entrance.
Members Edith Acton, Richard Acton and Debra Butler assisted Todd Stokes with cleaning and sanding the service doors for primer paint in August. Stokes and Butler later painted the service doors red so that Stokes and Mary Mayhew could proceed with work throughout September on the comedy/tragedy theater masks and drapes.
In October, Butler and Sheila Ter Meer joined the painting crew to detail the drapes, and Stokes and Mayhew added confetti to the design to complete the mural.
