Ash Cave Falls by Spencer Young

River City Art Association member Spencer Young of Clinton is the featured artist in May and June in RCAA’s Outreach Gallery at Westminster Village in Terre Haute.

The subject of Young’s exhibit is “Photos of Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio.”

Young holds a bachelor’s degree in astronomy from Northwestern University and a master of science from Iowa State University. For several years he was an assistant photographer and darkroom operator for a portrait and wedding studio. He is a landscape photographer however, capturing solar eclipses is high on his list of priorities.

CAD drawing is Young’s third interest. He creates 3D objects and pictures in a 2D format through wiremesh and shaded solid designs. This artistic concept came from his career as a geologist for coal mines, where he used computer-assisted drawing software to create maps.

Young’s most recent award was First Place in Photography for his photo “Rock House Interior” at RCAA’s 7th Annual Juried Exhibition.
